Description:
Content: Walk up and finally on top of Mount Olives. Take a rest under an olive tree and begin to look into these olives. While standing, reckon a bird’s eye view of the city, Promised Land. As we grow in age, we experience various seasons of life. Do we see only these olives or what’s behind them? Do we see only the surface or our current circumstances or we see through life in God’s perspective? God’s promise is just behind these olives... Background: The Old City is a place of controversy and dispute among Islams and Christians around the world. It is also the apple of God’s eye. Mount of Olives, or Olivet is a flat-topped ridge with steep rocky sides. View across the Kidron valley to the Old City. The hill is 830m (2794 ft) high and is believed to have been the place of Jesus ascension. We read that the disciples returned to Jerusalem immediately after the ascension `from the mount called Olivet' (Acts 1:2), In the Old Testament, Zechariah prophesied the second coming day of the Lord. The Israelites were promised many things for which they had not laboured, including vineyards and olive trees which they had not planted (Deuteronomy 6:11), thereby implying that olive cultivation was well established by the Canaanites at the time of the exodus in the thirteenth century BC. The Promised Land was to be `a land of olive trees and honey' (Deuteronomy 8:8). Isaiah 33:20 Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home… Psalm 122:6-7 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you. 7 Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces. 8 For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “ Peace be within you. “ 9 Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.
